Eureka Child, an AID India initiative, tackles this challenge head on. Over the past decade, the EurekaChild initiative has developed numerous creative learning modules for reading, math and the sciences. In 2006, as part of a Govt supported pilot program, AID India reached out to 450,000 children in 7000 schools across Tamil Nadu. Eureka Child Scale Up

Inspired by the pilot's success AID is now poised to scale up this initiative and reach out to the 10 million children in Tamil Nadu to then expand to other parts in India. The program maximizes the use of government infrastructure, a key to long term sustainability. This also reduces the costs dramatically.

Cost: Less than $1 per child - $150 per school
1st year: More than 1 Million children, 7000 schools, Implementation Cost: $1.05 million
2nd & 3rd year: More than 2 Million children, 13,000 schools, Implementation Cost: $2 million
